Unhealthy gums increase the risk of cancer!
Recently, a new study in the authoritative journal [BMJ] found that unhealthy gums increase the risk of gastric cancer by 52% and increase the risk of esophageal cancer by 43%. Researchers at Harvard University in the United States pointed out that inflammation caused by gum disease is one of the factors that increase the risk of cancer. Periodontal disease patients have higher systemic inflammation, which is one of the potential mechanisms of cancer development. Certain bacteria and related pathogens of gum disease are also associated with tumors of the stomach and esophagus. Therefore, taking good care of oral health can reduce potential cancer risk.
