What Are Trace Elements Anyway?
You’ve heard of trace elements by now, but what are they?
Trace elements are minerals that are essential for human health, but are required in very small amounts. They are also known as micronutrients and are found in the soil. These elements are essential for various bodily functions, such as cell growth, immune response, metabolism, and energy production. Trace elements are mostly obtained from plant sources.
Plants absorb trace elements from the soil during their growth, and these minerals are then passed on to humans and animals when the plants are consumed. Trace minerals can also be found in water and some dietary supplements. The human body requires at least 15 essential trace elements. These include zinc, iron, copper, iodine, selenium, and manganese, among others.
Each of these minerals has different functions which we will cover soon enough, catch us for more informative reads!
