Why are we having mineral deficiency? (1)
Overconsumption of highly refined foods: The foods we eat today are highly refined with many of the minerals stripped from them during their processing.
This is the classic case of “overfed but undernourished”, probably the biggest reason why people are suffering from chronic disease and early death.
The inflammation that occurs in the body when we overconsume these processed foods also increases mineral demand as more minerals get shunted towards antioxidant enzymes to handle increased oxidative stress rather than being utilized for other essential purposes.
Essentially, the more refined foods you eat the more micronutrient depleted you become!
