#Gallstones can greatly increase the risk of #liver cancer and pancreatic cancer

A research report in the international journal “Liver International” pointed out that gallstones can greatly increase the risk of liver cancer and pancreatic cancer. Bile acid slows down the metabolic process of liver cells. Long-term exposure to excessive bile tends to cause damages to the DNA and mitochondrial of liver cell which may eventually develop into liver cancer. The reflux of bile acid into the pancreatic duct and epithelial cells can also cause pancreatitis, which results in cell mutations
and leads to pancreatic cancer.
