Xanthelasma mostly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people, with one or more yellow patches on one or both eyelids.
These yellow patches are due to macrophages swallowing large amounts of fat and deposit in the superficial dermis of the skin. Most of these fats are cholesterol which may leads to arteriosclerosis.
